Anyone run them? Building an L98 for track use (only) ~335rwhp. Car runs 24 hour races so reliability is the name of the game.
So far in planning:
Eagle internally balanced lightweight crankshaft
H-Beam 6.0" rods
Exact pistons TBD, anticipate floating pin.
HV pump
Supporting top end items to get HP goals.
With this, I was considering adding oil squirters. Now I'm not making crazy HP numbers or any power adders, I'm looking at this for the sake of keeping the engine nice and happy. Any thoughts?
I have the tooling from BLP and we have done them in our oval race engines for many years. After getting closer and closer to the edge, I finally machined the block for them in my 440 SBC in the 84.... (nitrous engine) and they helped quite a bit with piston life.
There's no downside except the cost of machine work. With something that's going to run 24hr races, I would do them.

The only real possible issue is low speed pre ignition. Which for the tiny possibility of occuring is worth the extra peace of mind. They are only going to help and there is a reason a lot of OEMs utilize them now. I vote yes, why not.
I'll be the contrarian here: If you run a dry sump or semi-dry sump then absolutely yes. For wet sump on the other hand, since the windage/splash is significant, the oil tornado created oils/cools the bottom of the pistons just fine.
Semi-dry sump effectively compartmentalizes all of the oil separate from the crankshaft rotation and windage, that's not SBC stuff of course, just wanted to be accurate.
