Default MAT Sensor relocation worth it????

I'm an owner of barn find 1985 vette that needs some attention. I'm in the process of putting reconditioned injectors (22lb.), new 43lb.fuel regulator, plugs, EGR valve, and serious cleaning. The plastic clip for the MAT sensor broke off so looking at replacing the lead wire I came across the relation of the sensor to the air cleaning. I guess the logic is the sensor gets a truer picture of outside air temp (cooler) instead of the seriously hot plenum. I would think cooler temp means richen the mixture to the computer. The plugs I removed were what I call not tight enough and had a lean look to me. If my logic is sound relocating sounds good to me. Does it really matter? If I relocate I assume just plug the plenum sensor hole with plumbing plug. Has anyone done the relocation and noticed any difference?

If you're not going to retune the chip, and the car is bone stock I would leave it where it is.

GM actually put in a compensation factor to account for the effect of heat conduction from the manifold into the sensor.

That makes sense. Definitely not retuning anything just getting ready for my daughter to drive. So I'll probably buy the factory lead wire so I dont have to worry about it coming loose later.
