Default '84 z51

Hi. My friend has an original '84 Z51 package and wants to replace the shocks. What would be the best OEM Z51 type shock to use? He wants it to be as close to original as possible and said there are Bilsteins on it now but they are more than twenty years old. GM Parts are not available from the dealer. The car is quite beautiful w/low mileage. Thanks.

Get the information off of the current Bilstein shocks that are on the car and see how closely those can be replicated. Not all '84 Z51 would have had Bilstein as originals so .............................. If they have labels on them with letter codes they very well might be the originals.

If you found labels on the shocks GP & GV then it could be assumed they were originals.

Thought I not a normal Amazon parts advocate they have listings for Bilstein shocks with OEM numbers, but as WVZR-1 said you have to nail it down a bit because there are some differences and they supply parts numbers in add

Does your wife's '84 have a SPID label and a 'trim tag' near the right hood latch, just a SPID or maybe just a 'trim tag'?
