I just opened my computer and found a Jet performance chip and wondered if anyone had a opinion on this particular chip. Cars a stock 93 auto and the chip seem's to turn my cooling fans on earlier, and runs about 210 degrees.
If it turns the fans on earlier, then its doing somethin good. Its not really upping your HP though, not unless the car has real mods. All chips usually do is advance timing.
210 seems high for fans that are on that early. I have a hypertech and they kick the fans at 175, I run a 180 tstat and the temp is locked at 186 in summer and winter. Something don't seem right that its running that high. :skep: What stat you running? I would think that jet would move the fans on times from 230 to 190 ish. Anyone else chime in?
The Jet chips do not turn the fans on earlier and IMHO they don't do much for performance either. I had a Jet stage 2 chip in my car for awhile and did some back to back testing at the track with the only change being the chips (Jet vs. stocker). The car was quicker with the stock chip. I would tolerate a Hpertech chip because it, at least, kicks the fans on earlier, but the Jet doesn't even do that.
Thanks for the replies, the stock chip is piggy-backing the Jet chip so I will remove the Jet chip and reinstall the stock one and do my own cooling fan mod. I not sure which thermostat is in the car yet. I bought an ADS superchip years ago for my 92 because they said it would turn on my cooling fans earlier but it did nothing. I am not a fan of performance chips unless you have done extensive mods (heads,cam,blower,etc.). So far the car is stock except for K&N air filter, cut open air filter lid, and soon 3.73 gears & 150 shot.
