I own a '95 LT1. If you upgrade the throttle body is there anything else that needs to be done in addition to that for HP gains? If not, what are recommendations for something that should also be done at the same time?

What are you expecting to gain by upgrading the throttle body only?

Updating the throttle body is a waste of money all by itself. You really wouldn't need to do that until you gut a much bigger cam, better flowing cylinder heads, etc, that demanded more air at the upper rpm range.

My thinking is that a higher flowing throttle body will be a necessity after I open up the airbox and dropped in a KN filter. Of course, I'm always looking for more hp, and/or a better running car in general.

I did all that and it was a waste of money! Tricked out airbox, throttle body, K & N Filter. I did not notice a difference in performance.

Eventually, swtched it back to stock for a show and still did not notice a difference.

What made a major difference was the Performance Rear End.

You do not need a throttle body upgrade. Unless you have heads and cam first. Just use that money for a good tune or rear gears.

Car is an auto-what would new gears do for me? And am I looking at a completely new rear end or just new gears for the rear end?

What rear end did you use and what gears did you get? And what is the advantage of those gears?

If you are going to modify it more get a D44 which is in a standard shift car. If all you are doing is gears stick with the D36 that you have. Don't skimp on headers.

You don't need an upgraded TB, nothing you're doing requires the extra CFM. When you throw in a 383 or 396, then we can talk.

Stock car, best thing to do is gears and Torque converter. You have a D36, you would need to buy 3.54 (or 3.73) made for the D36 carrier and have them installed. You will jump off the line harder because the engine will rev into your power band quicker. The trade off is mainly gas mileage on the interstate, as you will cruise another 200-400rpm higher.

TC does similar things, as it won't engage like a clutch until the stall RPM speed, which should be at least 2000-2400 rpm for a street car and no higher unless you drag race it. You would not pay the penalty of lost MPG on the interstate.

Together the car will feel a lot faster and jumpier off the line without really costing that much elsewhere.
