Hi.
2 problems on my 1984 c4.
1. The driver seat doesnt go backward.
it Seems like defective switch, it doesnt make any sound, all the other controls work.
Is there a way to move the seat back until i work it out?
Thought about triggering 12v from the connector directly to the motor, but i dont have the wiring diagram so i can just try and see which one of the pins is the right one. Unless someone have a diagram.
2. The brake warning light comes on ehenever im in hard cornering, i thought its the fluid level but both reservoir are full. Any other things to check for?
thank you, from israel.
This probably will not help, but worth a try. my seat will go all directions but it goes better to the rear if i raise it first. take it rearward to where i want it and then go as low as it will let me to get the lean i want.
This is from a 1985 manual, the 84 may be the same:
Forward - Back motor wires are red/grn and yel/orn The forward - back motor is the one in the middle, IIRC the wires go into each motor individually, so you can verify the colors.
Yel/orn to (+) Red/grn to (-) is BACK.
Red/grn to (+) Yel/orn to (-) is FORWARD
For the BRAKE light, if the brakes are normal, I'd look at the park brake handle and assembly. Perhaps you're shifting your leg or weight into it during "hard cornering" and activating a touchy switch adjustment? Only a thought.
thank you i would try.
about the brake - i tried to hold the lever and it doesne change much. It even happened when i drove uphill, i asked a friend from our local c4 group, he said that there is a spring that close contact ans usually it rusting and i just need to take it out and clean it.
I'm 6' 5" and when I purchased my '84 the drivers seat went back and forth but not up or down, just grinding noise. I had to drive it home looking out over the windshield header with the roof off. I noticed that the passenger seat (manual adjuster) sat a lot lower, so I just switched the bases and now I can drive with the roof on and my wife (5' 6") likes her seat height just fine. I might replace or rebuild the seat motor someday but this workaround is ok for now. After the swap.
