Does anyone have email to optidoc. I know he isn't on ebay anymore but have heard he still will work on them. Down to my last spline drive for my friends 93 and want it checked out before I install it. The previous opti I installed had rear seal fail and pulled in alot of oil causing misfires and the way I sealed that cap on it really isn't coming apart anymore. I will cut it apart when I have time but too many projects to care that much. Before thread gets nutty , I know it's oil filled because when I pulled off vent hose on bottom (vented msd ) yes I had kit and restrictor , oil came out of distributor.
Thanks in advance !!
Anthony
Brad got burnt out with Ebay always siding with the seller when a perfect rebuilt opti did not fix some guys car with a burnt out coil or something. I am not qualified to give him advice. But, if I was asked I think :
1. He should have charged way more than he did. If you look at what he charged and subtracted the MSD cap and rotor, new bearing and shipping back he did not make much. Maybe somewhere around $500.00 to rebuild yours or $1000.00 if you just bought one from him.
2.He should have offered way way more for original opti's. Enough to make it worth peoples time to scour junkyards. Maybe start at say $400.00 if the sensor was good. I think he ran out of rebuildable ones to sell outright.
3. Maybe leave Ebay as he had to give a percentage of his meager profit to them.
I bought one outright from him and then sent my original to him for a rebuild. So, I am in the great position of having one of his rebuilds sealed in a bag in my cabinet. Probably never need it but would never sell it. Just my thoughts, Dan
Yeah, Ebay is a joke and I understand why he bailed out from them. I don't know how to properly test my last one I have. Don't want to do job twice. It is really clean and only had light rust but was told it was functioning. More concerned with it when it heats up , that's when they seem to go wonky.
I am going to ask a question I don't know the answer to. Is it possible to inject grease into the bearing? I know I have a thin needle fitting that clips to a grease gun to inject grease in a small spot. Have you checked all the ways to clean the sensor? The caulk/sealant Brad used was grey and seemed like it was kind of sticky. It looks like it would seal the cap great. I wonder what it was. Dan
I sealed the opti that failed and it fused cap to the spacer and it needs to be cut apart. Injecting grease into bearing would be interesting to a attempt.
