Engine support while changing mounts KC4 in the way
Good morning,
It is my understanding the support point for changing motor mounts is either engine stand from above or front of oil pan distributing weight acrossed it. I have a KC4 coolant pipe running across the front of the pan and was wondering if anyone has supported the engine with the rear of the oil pan. I am deep in the rabbit hole so trying not to unbolt any more, though this may not be an option. Weight is less than usual as intake and above, heads and downpipes are off.
Thanks

When changing my cam I unbolted the motor mounts and lifted the engine slightly via the oil pan. I used a short 2x4 to lay across my jack and distribute the weight of the engine. No issues doing it that way.
Edit: You can also remove those cross braces fairly easily and will have way more room up front if you would be more comfortable lifting from the front of the pan.
Use a piece of 2"×10" or 2×12" wood sized to cover the whole rear pan bottom with an old bath towel folded up between the pan and the wood...this combo has never dented/crushed/or distorted any oil pan/engine I've lifted this way👍
edit: stop the wood just short of drain plug area to avoid pressure on that area.
This forum has an annoying "feature" of dumping you into related threads right below the current one, it's pretty easy to reply to the wrong one. Bad UI design.

That was not meant to be a mean reply to your answer and I appreciate the help, It was more of a way of just saying it's 2 years old...

No problem, didn't take it as "mean"....Usually I'm pretty good about noticing dates, but miss it from time to time👍
