I know we all have stories about talking about something or searching for something and then having ads come to us for that. Yesterday in an opti thread I suggested a MSD cap and rotor to a poster. I am now being hit with ads for a MSD cap and rotor. Big Brother is even watching posts on this forum. I think this has gone too far. Dan

"They" are probably scanning responses to the thread in your email. I know yahoo does it. And I'll never own a "smart" speaker for that matter.

That's not the government commonly referred to as big brother, it is Tech controller of the search engines Google, yahoo, Bing etc

I think the craziest thing that has happened to me was a couple of years ago I was on my laptop with a cigar in my mouth. I never said the word "cigar" or did any search about cigar. The next day I started getting cigar ads. I have to figure they are looking at us through the camera all the time. Dan edit: my new laptop came with a sliding door built in to cover the camera.

If people were being watched on their cameras, a lot of people would be getting ads for Kleenex, lotion, etc.

I switched to DuckDuckGo for my search engine exactly because of this type of monitoring & have seen any issues the past year.
