What type of paint is good over a few layers of paint.? Nothing Fancy. I am considering this one-TCP Global -Warm Gray Metallic Acrylic Urethane Auto Paint - Complete Gallon Paint Kit - Professional Single Stage Automotive Car Coating, 4:1 Mix Ratio 2.8 VOC

You may want to do some serious sanding or stripping of those few layers of paint. Too much paint buildup is a recipe for paint flaking and peeling off. Definitely not good on a flexible body like a C4.

According to a Google search that's the same brand I used last winter

Thread

Don't use it at their recommended mix of 8 to 1. Buy an extra container of their wet look hardener and use it @ 4 to 1, plus adding your 1 part of reducer on top of that. Fast medium or slow will depend on your ambient spraying temperature

Paint is easy. Prep is where all the effort goes and is made evident if you try and rush it by skipping anything

Thank You, I will do the extra. Yes, the prep is where it is at. The primer on the last paint job cracked on all the horizonal places. I am taking off two layers and cleaning up the rest to a 400 grit. I am down to the hood and plan on taking it over to the paint guy for inspection as soon as my Brake Boost shows up.

I am about to order paint. This is the ratio-
Mix 8 parts Acrylic Enamel Color, 2 parts T-535 Acrylic Enamel Reducer and 1 part Wet Look 1000 Hardener.
Does that sound right?

That's what their instructions claim. Researching online will reveal that nearly everyone recommends
4 : 1 : 1 which would be 8 : 2 : 2

Depends on how much you trust the online diy community I guess. An extra container of wet look hardener for the 4:1:1 will leave you with a tougher finish and more glossy

Reducer speed is based off the ambient spraying temperatures. Fast medium or slow all depends on the temperature when you spray.
