C4 Corvette 1996 Rear end horsepower limit
I’m currently in the process of an engine swap in my 1996 c4 corvette. I will be pushing much more than the original 330 hp and wanted to know how much the stock rear end can handle. I’m already planning to change the transmission as-well so that’s not an issue.

Auto on manual? In either case it depends on how well it hooks. If you run street tires they will most likly spin before the rear breaks. With slicks that becomes an issue.

This is the answer. Power doesn't really matter. It's all down to how hard you can shock load the drivetrain at launch (and possibly during each shift, if you are really trying to break things). Your "fusible link" here is the tires. Even a stock L98 with a manual can break tires loose if you dump the clutch hard enough.
