UV Leak Detection Kit

Just got back from NAPA, the solution you put in with your oil is about $5, the light on one unit was $260 and on the other unit $320 :eek:

Are you guys actually buying these light guns or can I substitute another light source?

I got a kit from Autozone, black light, engine, coolant, and tranny dye for 80 bucks. I think any black light will do. I'll sell you my light.

I would think any UV light would work. I have done some work on the side with a Forensic Pathologist we used a fluorescent powder and black lights for blood testing. I would think that the stuff you add to your oil is the same.

I just got back from Advance Auto. Bought a kit for $74 which comes with a light gun, goggles and detect leaks in oil, fuel, coolant as well as A/C leaks.

Yeah it should be right around 80 bucks for the kit.
