Default Replacing Thermostat...

Okay I'm replacing my thermostat, and I broke something, and I don't know what it is. This is an L98 engine. Attached to one of the bolts that holds the thermostat housing in place is a wire housing, and a flat black thing with two tiny plastic lines coming out of it. I broke those two tiny plastic lines. They just snapped when I removed the thermostat housing. Does anybody know what they are?

Sounds like the vacuum lines from the EGR solenoid.

Well i finished the install and left 'em broken. The car's running fine. The EGR Solenoid only concerns emissions, right? So the car should run fine without it? It seems to be running fine now.

Yep, and unfortunately those vacuum lines have been discontinued. I broke one a while back, but fixed it and sealed it with some RTV. Now I'm afraid to change my thermostat though... if anyone knows where to get the EGR solenoid vacuum lines let us know!! :)

Just be more careful than I was. Take the bolt all the way out of the thermostat housing, and you should be fine. I just got the bolt out of the engine and pulled on the thermostat housing with the bolts still in it.

I bought a bunch of that exact vacuum line at Pepgirls. If you can't find any let me know how much you need and I'll mail it to you.

I've snapped those damn lines too. What I've done is to take a roll pin that fits inside of the vacuum line and the connect the two broken pieces together
