Default Ride Control POS (Rant)

On Saturday I finally got around to checking out why my "Service Ride Control" light was on. Checked the codes and removed the left rear shock.

The POS star gear on the valve adjuster was broken. This is a five cent part on a $180 shock. I think the boys and girls at Bilstein could have coughed up another penny and made something that would not brake. :cuss

I glued the gear together with epoxy and reassembled it. The light went out and it has held for two days now. Maybe it will hold until my new shock gets delivered. The "Service" light is really annoying.

Don't even get me started on the one cent E clip that broke when I removed the front brake caliper on Sunday. It took 4 parts stores and two hours to find that gem. Everyone seemed to be out of stock. :nono:

If it wasn't 80 degrees and sunny it might have been a bad weekend.

I have fixed a couple of them with Epoxyt. If you do it right, you can have a working shock when you are done. I agree though, the gear is a cheap brittle piece of material.
