Default Engine Update....406 CI

Hey fellas,

Have been pretty busy lately, but unforunately not with the car :nonod:

Between the weather here (sub zero) and work the car has been getting neglected a little.

I did however get the new paint for the engine and gave it another coat. Looked better IMHO. Also you can see the pan and new timing cover.

The pan is an orangish red, so it doesn't match the motor itself, but OH well, it will soon be so buried noone will ever see it again :jester

Here are the pictures:

Ski, that's looking REAL GOOD  ! Don't you just love a clean, fresh motor on the stand, nice and easy to get at everything? You better do something about those blue rags though, they just don't match your color scheme at all :skep:...

Don't forget to post pic with the motor installed in the vette.

It looks really good and I bet it will run just as good too!

That color looks a lot better then the other red you had, did you spray it on there or just brush it, I nead to paint one and I was thinking about getting some paint like, that wont something better then just the spray can.

Ski, looks good. Sorry for not being up to speed. Is this a OEM or aftermarket block? Only thing I do know is what cam you are using.

Mrjay,

The paint is a brush on supplied by POR-15 company. Do a search on their name and you will find it. The entire kits cost only 50 bucks, includes everything you will need, from brushes to degreasers.

It will look like you dipped it in plastic! :)

As for the details of the buildup:

Super Ram, fully ported (by me ;) )
AFR heads 190 cnc ported. Valve upgrade
K-motion 800 series springs good to .640 lift
Comp Cam solid roller lifters.
Comp cam pro mag 1.6 ratio RR
TPIS solid roller cam 242/242 .610 lift :smash:
Wiesco Forged pistons
Lunati Forged 5.7" Rods
Stock cast crank
400 GM block .030" over cast 11-22-1976, 6PM (from what I can tell) :) 509 series; 2 bolt main
Hooker 1 3/4" model 2151 :D
Moroso pan with trap doors+ extra oil capacity
Vigilante 3200 stall converter
3.07 rear gears (D36 for now) need to get a D44 3.07 ratio in there quick!:yesnod:
58mm Holley TB
MAF gutted :D
Custom Chip (by me! :D )

That about is all I can think of now....

You have a lot of good parts in your engine, the cam you have it not that far from what I have in my camaro, you have more lift but less durasion...mine is 246/248 but onlie 562/568 lift what center line do you have mine is 110, you must have 112 or more.
