Default Need help with basic tuning questions..

Good Morning,
Today I begin learning / planning for a new tune. My bosch III's run warm plus I want fan/on commands at lower temps.
I am servicing my cooling system, a new radiator and high flow thermostat sit in boxes behind me.
I have a redevil river cable. Tim Bacher was awesome to me and spent time writing a large email to help. The info he sent leads to these questions.
FYI, I have both a 7165 (installed) and 999194 on hand.

1. The MEMCAL contains the tune for the car, why would we want a 27SF512 adapter and chip to replace it ??
2. I am guessing the chip is burned / tuned out side the car ??
3. Tim spoke of the following, GQ PRG-055 GQ-4X V4 EPROM chip Burner USB Universal Programmer 29F400 W25Q256 723794242042
4. Does the above use my memcal or a 27sf512 ??
5. I do not want a bunch of special stuff or constant changing, should I just pay someone else ??
6. The black hole for me is the gear, I have Tunerpro RT and will probably buy the tunercats. I have the 87 $32B and the 89 6E file and the ARAP bin file,
Do I need to retrieve my existing stock memcal tune or is $32B it ??
7. Is there a generic tune for L98's and Bosch D III's ?? I am ignorant of the numbers game ie. Fords version, FIC's version etc.
8. Bosch D III's with lower fan temps, I would think this very tune is in at least 1000 stock 87's...

Thanks for any answers.
Donny
P.S. What would the below device help me do ???
.

You might consider upgrading to $6E mask arar or arap . The stock chip is uv erasable so you would want a sst27sf512 eeprom. Solder in place of the old 27c128 or get a piggyback adapter. The header adapter is used for reading or flashing directly to the sst if you replace the stock chip.
for a starter you can use manufacturer data for battery voltage offsets for the D3. If idle is still real rich zero low pw table.
Tunerpro xdf is all that is needed to edit the binary.

Thanks for replying. When I changed out the ADS chip to OEM memcal it went from rich to +- 15 of 128. I can not find any Bosch info directly from Bosch on the D III's. Would you know where can I find a good read on the tuning data and what it means ??

Thanks for any help.

You should check with the vendor you bought them from or try the offsets posted in the link then tune accordingly if not closer to 128.

Can tunerpro RT display a bin file and what hardware does it need. Will it work with a GQ 4x-V4 ?? I want to be able to see my injector voltages.

to edit a bin you just need proper xdf for the mask your editing. Once the bin is save the file can be imported into any programmer that does a sst27sf512 chip. Just watch chip addresses for 16k file size.

Once you have a burner, software to edit/tune the existing tune. It is not really that hard.
I use all Moates stuff. Sux he is not in business anymore. I use the piggyback adapter and 512 chips in my 1993.

If you are loading a smaller bin onto a larger eeprom just look on tunerpro-tools, bin stacker/splitter. It makes it pretty easy.

If you are using tuner pro rt, left side of tool bar. Load the xdf, load the bin. Then find the perimeter in the left drop down list to edit or view

What is your favorite chip burner for the 27SF512 chip's ?? (minus Moates as there are OOB)

Are the ZIF sockets (verses just holes) on the Memcal / chip adapter worth the $10 bucks.

Long term I wouldn’t use a zif in a ecm, I think I saw this on market for $115-120 or so
