Default Exhaust time

Ok, I think I am ready for a new exhaust system. Any suggestions on a good setup for a 1990 L98? I'd like power more than anything but a good sound would be nice too!! Also any other info like prices and where to by would be great to. Thanx! :D

One of my first mods was to put on Eliminators ($150 approx. I believe) They are still on the car and compliment my SuperRam and long tube headers nicely. They are starting to get loud now with the addition of the SuperRam but on a stock motor it rumbles and is not too loud.

I am thinking about running true duals back to eliminators. From the posts I have read, the stock y pipe is very restrictive and should be replaced if you stay with the current setup. RandomTech and Catco have good hiflow cats

If you're not running headers get a catless front y-pipe, high flow main cat and a rear y-pipe with crossover pipe and eliminators. If you are gonna run headers then scratch the front y-pipe. That's my setup and I love it sound wise and performance as well. The crossover pipe on the rear y will help with the resonance. Just make sure the tips stick out a little past the bumper.

90 and 91's have a problem with the EGR valve and low restriction exhausts. The valve is a positive back-pressure design and may not open with low back pressure. This is not necessarly a huge problem, but will turn on the SES light after short drives on the highway. A chip can be programmed to remove the EGR test, but this will cost some money.

Best to check with other 90 and 91 owners who have done exhaust mods and what works.

Good Luck

Pete

True statement. During warmer weather, the SES light will become your friend. Mine will come on during the commute to and from work (about 30 min.) and be off on restart. I've pulled the codes once a week just to make sure it is nothing other than 32. Since there is no decrease in performance and no harm to the vehicle, I just let it go. Doesn't seem to happen until the outside temp gets to 60+.

Good luck
