Re: Removing Valve cover symbol (atotalnincompoop)
i carefully pryed mine off, take your time
:withstupid: I used a medium plastic putty knife cost like .39 at a home improvement store. It was easier when the car was hot. Just position the knife under the lip of the emblem and tap the handle with a hammer, nice and easy, keep doing it, it will just pop off.
straight screwdriver here, push in, pop up, i just repainted the covers VHT wrinkle black $5 and HTC silver on the emblem. wound up selling them but the wrinkle coat looks great on the stockers. the corse metal is perfect for it
Mine had black paper on the back with stickum on both sides. You have to go slowly and carefully around it with a thin knive and gradually pry them off. I just used clear silicon to glue them back, but DON't use too much silicon or you will never get them off again!
3M double sided sticky tape, the engine heat cures it hard within days. i don't have a pic of the stockers anymore but the wrinkle works wonderful. see if your auto parts store carries the black VHT wrinkle spray, it's only $5 and it fills the metal very very nice. the other colors are much harder to shoot, like red for example will demand more prep work and a more controled temp to shoot correctly.
I took mine off the same way, putty knife & tap tap with a small hammer. I repainted the black areas on the emblem with, get this, Testors gloss black model paint (borrowed from my son :D ) then put it about 3"underneath a 60w bulb for 1/2 hour to cure. I reattached it the next day with the red high temp silicone. I let it cure a bit first before putting it on and then just lightly secured it in place with the green paint masking tape ( the stuff that won't rip the paint off when removed) so it wouldn't slid out of place.
