Hello. I want to raise my torque converter lock up to lets say 50-55 mph in my 1990 l98 automatic trans. I remember seeing a memcal/chip manufacturer that you can buy that does this but I can't find it now. Can enbody help me with this. Thank you
When my car was on the street, I put a manual switch on the console and hit the switch when I wanted a 5th gear on the freeway. Just have to remember to deactivate the lock up when slowing down to a stop.

Thank you for that. I was just wondering if someone could change the program to raise it. I could have swore I saw it somewhere it could be but maybe not.

I've seen a few setups now that used a momentary push button and a 4 pin relay wired to the brake switch. So you press the button and it locks the converter and energizes the relay. So the relay holds the TCC on after your finger is off the button. Then when you hit the brake it de-energizes the relay and unlocks the converter. Pretty simple to wire too.
OP I would talk to PCMforLess and see if they can help you out. They advertise on their site that they can program 86-93 C4's. But something to consider. There are aftermarket trans controllers that would allow you to tune your transmission however you wanted yourself. And some of these cost about the same as some tuners charge.
Unfortunately 700r4 transmission uses shift cable. 94+ uses 4l60e which is electronic shift. You probably also have a 2.59 base axle making TCC more irritating. I would suggest getting a custom men cal changing tcc engagement and other possible performance enhancements. Chevrolet did leave a little bit on the table in complying with regulations. PCM of NC is a popular tuner.
My 93 allows the Converter to be locked up. I used Cats tuner, adjust it to what I want in 3rd and 4th gear. Then I use a moates to burn the chip to a memcal adapter.. Pretty easy.
