need header/exhaust advice!

need header/exhaust advice!
Hey guys.. All this talk about headers and xpipes has got me wanting a new setup myself :blueangel: What would be the best long tube header and muffler for my car. I want to get the dr. gas xpipe and probably eliminate my cat all together.. Any advice guys?? I want my car to sound like a beast, but not so loud it scares lil children in the car next to me.. :jester

I am hopefully going to redo my exhaust on my 91 vette this spring. I plan to put headers (no sure shorty's or longtubes), back to an H pipe and muff elims out the back. I am not sure of the benefit of an X pipe over an H. I also want good sound, back not too loud. I am not sure if longtubes are louder than shortys. I also am not done doing my research.

Quiksilver, if you want to hear what an L98 w/ long tubes, no cats, and 3" straight pipe sounds like, let me know...I live in East Orlando over near Waterford Lakes. While relatively tame at idle, it will scare deaf people when I get on it.
