I found a garage find, 1991 with 46k miles. All fluids replaced, motor would crank over. I had no fuel pressure. Found a clog in the fuel rail replaced the fuel rail, installed with new injectors, plugs, wires went to turn the engine over hoping it would start and nothing... The security light goes out when the key is installed. I have trouble shot to the starting enable relay. The relay picks when the key is in run and drops when the key is turned to start. Any idea why this is?
Nothing on the starter. I think the theft deterrent system is my problem now. Security light flashes all the time until key is inserted. I can only arm the system from passenger door. Tried setting off alarm with window down and opening the door and it didnt sound the horn. Horn works. I'll search theft deterrent system now.
I had similar situation the other day and somebody told me it was because my key was dirty. Really so I wiped it on my jeans real good and viola it started.
I'm pretty sure that means the VATS is accepted. Someone may have to second me there.
If you directly jump the starter relay, does the engine start?
If it does, that means its not a VATS issue since it will kill both crank and injector pulse.
Jumped relay just to make sure motor would turn. I also think the starter enable relay is the farthest one on the left. The wire colors match the circuits I am looking at. It also picks when key is turned to start and puts voltage on the front contact. Now to find the transmissions position switch.
