Just got a '96 and the vents were only running on default settings, after some investigation I found there is no vacuum on the black supply line to the controller module. I replaced the check valve on the passenger side with no change.
In the diagram I see a connector for the supply around the firewall, does anyone know where that is?
I can't see anything drivers side and passenger side looks like a bear to take apart.
The typical issue for the 96, the nipples on the controller are made of rubber, they can swell/collapse and block passages. That is the first place I would start. The vacuum line comes in through the firewall in a wire bundle at the centerline. It continues into the cabin and it make a connection with the main hvac harness. You wil need to remove the passenger lower dash to access. From there it crosses to the hvac programmer.

Yeah that was my initial thought and I removed the controller and cut those nipples, but it did not work. So I got back under there with the engine running and had no vacuum at the supply line. So now I'm trying to trace it back.
