that has been happening on lots of forums lately. they can't understand that these forums are not the only game in town. Facebook has become very popular with many enthusiast type groups available. the mods and such have been biting the hands that feed them.
And Facebook sucks. Can’t find anything. At least here the is 20 years of accessible content.
and most of what is on Facebook is extremely ignorant or Flatout wrong content.

Yeah, Tom left over an APPARENT misunderstanding from a post that prompted a temporary ban. After finding and PM'ing him at 3rd gen (6 mos ago), it sounded like the post was cut & pasted from years before? And, that he wished the mods would have looked further into the reason for banning -- to determine if it was really valid/deserved.
I don't know myself as I didn't "participate" in the thread questioned. It did look odd that the only questionable post (from his last locked thread) didn't appear anywhere IN that thread...one that was quoted and placed by someone else.
It's a shame because he was in the middle of the best intake comparison since 10xTT -- and was redoing it using the stock cam vs the GIANT cam used in 10xTT disfavoring more modest builds. Maybe stage 2 comparison could have followed with a mild cam? We might never know.

these forums are not in the business to give people places to post. they are in business to drive advertising and to be able to mine data to sell back to the OEM and aftermarket manufacturers. They look for user fixes and such that then OEMs adopt.
if they drive out the long time valuable contributors, there are nothing left but the folks on (lets say various Corvettes forums here) here just to post, that don't own a Corvette, are posers, the plants that stir up the political area etc, are new folks (not criticizing new folks) that are looking for solutions not contributing solutions

That's true. However, when the longtime, good contributors get driven out, the knowledge base stops. For the record, I use the knowledge base here a lot, both for educating myself and solving issues.
I got a warning too and I thought I was pretty tact but the way the mod talks to you can for sure make it worse. That has happened plenty and will continue. Effe you vs behave or else...
Tom was a great asset to this forum because he wasn't afraid to challenge bullshit when he saw it. I don't ever recall Tom posting anything he couldn't back up with facts. That often led to a certain amount of conflict because there are a few here who's ego cannot withstand a challenge. Rather than debate an issue or acknowledge their mistake or acceptance of another point of view, they puff up their chest and resort to personal attacks or when that doesn't work in their favor, they go Wahhh Wahhh to the mods. This is what happened in Tom's case. Forums such as this one should be for the exchange of FACTS and CORRECT information. Unfortunately, some often post "information" that is factually wrong and of no benefit to those seeking a solution to a problem. They read something, somewhere, and repost it here. There are enough sub-forums here that if your ambition is to grab your morning coffee and gossip or spread misinformation, then there is a place for you. Every single day of the week, there are posts here with incorrect information. "Your fuel pump won't come on till there is 4 PSI of oil pressure"..."At 6500 RPM, your sunshell is turning twice that speed"..."The orifice tube changes the liquid to a gas and absorbs the heat from the interior". Sound familiar? ALL absolute bullshit. Tom challenged all of this form of nonsense and we are now where we are at. I somehow feel that being banned from here did not affect his life too greatly.

dont worry, im still here to provide knowledge and not BS
I've always found his content to be valuable.Especially when I first bought my hunk of junk. I spent a lot of time just using the search function and reading.

yeah, thats my complaint on the facebook c4 sites
there isnt a good way to search prior posts
and wow! talk about more clueless people on that site
One of my issues with the mods here is that if someone clicks ‘report a post’
the mod will look at just that post and determine if a rules violation occurred without looking into the context.
for example:
someone reports a post for ‘name-calling’
the mod investigates it and bans the person who name-called somebody else a ‘dummy’
meanwhile, if you dig thru the thread you will find that multiple other users insulted and name-called the person first
however since those posts werent ‘reported’, those users dont get punished for the violation of forum rules.
this is especially true on 10+ page threads where the mod doesnt care/want to dig thru what could have possibly prompted someone to call someone a derogatory name
Heck the same user that started name-calling can then report the OP bc he responded to the insult.
