Odometer Broken Need Help Please

Am trying to fix my 84 C4 odometer cause it doesn’t work and when I took it apart I see the piece in the back holding all the pieces together is broken. Anyone know what the part is or where I can find ones thanks!

Does that piece just lift off or is it anchored into the mechanism, because I wonder if you could go to junkyard and salvage it from a other vehicle relatively same age bracket with a Analog Odometer

If there's still a speedometer repair shop in your area it would be for sure likely available there. That's a 7 roll indexing retainer.

There isn’t. I see eBay is selling odometers that work. Would I be able to just swap it out?

Message this guy on eBay and supply him your snapshot. He mentions having many odometer, speedometer parts for earlier GM

Ages ago I had the same issue, so I used an exacto and cut one out of a 2 liter pop bottle.

On my 89, it doesn't have that piece, those tabs fit in a slot in the housing.

Those were designed to reveal odometer tampering, so they're intentionally flimsy. Cutting a piece out of something as 64Scout said would work well enough.
