Yes. It will be. It's: https://batee.com/
The guy is Brian Thompson. He is a pro. Great guy! He can rebuild your entire dash cluster and HVAC module so everything works perfectly. But first, use the HVAC module in diagnostic mode to see if the tach is accurate or not.

Track was Rock Falls Raceway in Eau Claire, WI (internet says 1000ft above sea level). Don't know the DA but the weather was decent that day.
What day and specific time of day was the best Run?
You can look up the estimated DA number from the following link: https://airdensityonline.com/track-h...ay/2024-09-10/
Just change the date and submit. You can look see the DA number for specific times in the right column.
You completely missed my point. I'm not talking about the engine blowing up, that out under the hood, parts go out the driver side, maybe a small oil fire on a really good blow-up, but you won't get hurt unless you crash from oiled tires or can't see because of smoke..
A FLYWHEEL explosion is a completely different deal. If the flywheel comes apart at 6,000 RPM very heavy chunks are coming through the floor at extremely high velocity. Your right ankle is about 6" away, right in the trajectory. The magnesium bell housing isn't going to slow down or contain ****. Have your foot amputated at the ankle, you may bleed-out before the medics arrive, and it may be a long way to trauma care.
Flywheel explosions don't occur frequently. But frequently enough where most sanctioning organizations require scatter shield bell housings. I'm an old fart now. I was running at Irwindale in the early 70s. I recall two exhibits that I've never forgotten. There was a stripped out shell of a 55 chevy that had suffered a flywheel explosion by the scale. The dashboard, floorboards, firewall were perforated by shrapnel. the frame rails were severely dented. The driver died before they got him to care. The other exhibt was an approved scattershield that had contained a flywheel explosion hanging behind the counter of Blair's speed shop. It was deformed like a pumpkin. An incredible amount of energy.
No way would I run 6,000 RPM shifts without knowing a little bit about the age and health of the flywheel in a 30 year old, 94,000 mile car.
I don't care how many emoji's you use. Flywheel explosions are not a joke. They can kill you, or others in the trajectory.
Brother, I have never heard of a C4 Corvette flywheel blowing apart. Ever. Let alone on a relatively stock engine. With this train of thought, he would have to replace everything in the drivetrain to be safe. He should've just bought a new car with a warranty.
Or use the C68 HVAC readout.
Push and hold fan speed UP and DOWN until "-00" is displayed.
Push UP arrow until "-06" is displayed.
Push AUTO Fan.
Multiply the number shown by 25 for RPM. Ie "40" is 1000 RPM. "200" is 5000 RPM.
I question the wisdom of encouraging 6,000 RPM shifts in a 30 year old 94,000 mile car with an unknown-condition/age flywheel in it.
Had no idea on the HVAC readout function, that is some 1990's N64 cheat code stuff. Thanks for the pro tip, will be trying that!
And I hear ya on the wisdom of thrashing an old engine, but for what it's worth the previous owner said the factory clutch and flywheel were replaced in the last ~30,000 miles. He didn't have receipts for it but the clutch feels strong and I actually have a good case of the "ZF rattle", which from what I understand is mainly present if the factory dual mass flywheel is replaced with an aftermarket single mass flywheel. Leads me to believe he's telling the truth.

A photo of the time slip would be helpful.
Nice! I'll try to get a photo of the time slip uploaded tomorrow. That website is a great tool, thanks for the link.
i believe the sfi bell / scatter shield isn't enforced until 10.99 or quicker. 99/100 times the only thing that will cause a flywheel to blow up is improper installation. the other 1 is a genuine parts failure.
oof 14.2 @ 100 is what my 2023 subaru brz (na 2.4L 4 cyl) did on the street over the summer. you have a lot to gain, id say at least 2 seconds worth of ET and 15 mph.
sfi bells will easily fit in these cars, i have one in mine with a scatter shield.

He’s not gonna pick up 2 seconds and 15 mph just by driving different, or shifting later.
Gaining 2 seconds requires a healthy amount of horsepower, I would say at least another 100 wheel hp.
he could always get a wet shot 125 shot NOS kit and make it happen though.

that combination has a ton left in it. driving alone will not get near that much, but sorting the car will, it clearly has issues. i don't recommend spraying on a car that's obviously not running correct to begin with.
Thats why GM put 2.59 and 3.08 gears in the autos for LT1 /QUOTE]
The 3.06 1st gear of the 700r4 was part of it and meeting fleet economy was part of it. IMO at the time with 55.mph speed limits the 2.59 didn't belong in the Corvette 3.07 base and a 3.45 performance axle with the auto would make for a better car.
Launching a manual with IRS will take practice. Diz24 had alot of threads related to drag racing his 93 6speed and trying to get it to 60 ft. He had mph just poor 60 ft times.

Lots of practice indeed. Could you link a couple of those threads? I looked for that username but couldn’t find him, very interested to read them.
There's a test and tune this Friday, the 4th at Rock Falls if you're interested in trying again. I'm going to bring the 85 and see if I can do any better than my last time.
Be sure to practice your shifting as well.. you can either speed shift (shifting very quickly while letting off the gas) or power shift (keeping the gas to the floor) and likely cut a few 10ths as well. Have fun!

I'm booked up this weekend unfortunately, best of luck on the track tho!
And I certainly have room to improve on my shifting, that much I know
