Default Need voltage verification for starter

I made a post earlier about my 92 starter not always cranking. VATS is bypassed and has a viper alarm installed . No one seemed to have any ideas what the problem could be.I have a jumper wire direct from the battery to the solenoid and it cranks all the time. I then hooked up a volt meter at the solenoid and I'm only getting 6 volts while cranking. I found an older post stating that the older C4's only got 6.5 volts to the solenoid and that was stated in the manual and he wasn't sure about the later models. I find it hard to believe that half the voltage is lost passing thru VATS and a relay. Can anyone confirm or deny what this guy is saying. Thanks

It should be battery voltage, even on the older cars. It could be your ignition switch, clutch switch (or park/neutral switch), your starter inhibit relay, or a bad connection somewhere. Happy hunting!

You obviously have a big voltage drop...a video so you can better understand this !!!....just get yourself a 12 volt test light....are you testing at the B+ or at the "S" terminal ??…if you understand you can put a voltmeter on 2 ground circuits or 2 power circuits and get a reading you are WAY ahead of most DIY mechanics !!
