84 cooling fan nightmares
ongoing issue with my fan. It will come on sometimes but NOT always with temps as low as in the hundreds. Thus far I've replaced: The fan coolant temp sensor, the fan relay and the pigtail plug that connects to the relay. All did nothing to solve my dilemma! Presently, key on most time the fan is off BUT not always! My connector was 4 pins the replacement had 5 but supposedly it was the right one (Ebay fitment app) It also will occasionally keep running with key off but again not always. I've disconnected the relay, so they won't come on now that it is parked. As you can see it doesn't do the same thing all the time which is why I'm having SOooo much fun. Any help is much appreciated!
TIA

Relay should have constant power from a fusable link.
Relay is controlled on the ground side og the coil and will engage from high engine temp or air conditioning.
Ignition must be on to feel the other side of the relay coil.
If the relay is sometimed on with the key off, then it could be a bad relay or some problem with the ignition signal.
