Default HEI Cap Connectors, Need Replacements

On my '87 Vert. my Battery, Tach, and Ignition Module connector retaining clips are broken off due to age etc. Looking for a kit of pigtails to replace all three. I see some kits that have just the connector ends but no pigtails. I see individual Battery and Tach pigtails both individual and as a pair. I kind of like the individual ones. Can't seem to find a 3 wire pigtail for the ignition module. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah, I guess I can replace the entire assembly. I see them at Summit which is close to me. They also have the pigtails for the Bat and Tach or just the plastic end of the connectors. Might be able to just replace the plastic end of the connector by removing the wire and terminal connector and install a new plastic clip. We'll see.

Can you push those pins out and replace just the plastic shell ?? It would save having a splice in an exposed / important area.

These should not be spliced pigtails. Too critical to shortcut. Simply change out plastic connectors if the metal terminals are still okay. Often, a small flathead screwdriver can release these. As for the connectors other than bat and tach, an entire harness is available. Or at least it was.

That’s exactly how I replaced my TPS connector and several more with broken plastic clips. Didn’t want off color wires and IMO the original GM wire is better quality than the Chinese crap you can buy.

Summit has a kit for all three connectors, comes with the individual metal connectors and plastic ends. As mentioned, probly better to just replace the plastic. I've got terminal release tools to remove them. Thanks all.

Talk about easy. I've removed a lot of connectors from terminals but these had to be the easiest. After removal with a thin flat blade screwdriver I bent the tang back up to engage the new plastic connectors. The kit is from MSD part number 8194 $19.31. I had a return on a part I didn't need, $5 in Summit Bucks, and I won a gift certificate in lieu of a trophy at a car show for $50 so it didn't cost anything. Nice I have a Summit Racing warehouse here in Sparks, NV. I'm sure the metal terminals will come in handy somewhere else. Got the crimping tool for these type connectors. Now back to the car. Got to replace the shifter cable which is what started this whole project which resulted in a new TV cable, new tailshaft to trans case gasket, new tailshaft bushing and seal, transducer seal, trans filter replacement and refill, differential drain and refill, gas filter, engine oil and filter, and these new wire terminals. I'm checking my vacuum lines checking for any leaks especially for the electronic AC control module. Doesn't seem like I'm getting strong air out of the AC outlets. More to come and do. Thanks to all. STW.

I dont know if you have an auto or manual but if it is an automatic that shift shaft seal is a frequent leak.

I didn't see an obvious leak there but I pressure washed and braked cleaned everything. I'm just about ready to refill with trans fluid and check for leaks. I'll be sure and check that area out since I'm replacing the shifter cable that broke. Thanks.

I bought these and spliced them in. On a positive note this extended the wires 3-4" so I have some room to breathe.
