Default A Wheel Question

I have a wheel question. If I want to put wheels off a 93 on an 87 what size spacer do I need to put on before installing the wheels? Thanks in advance!

1987 base models had 16x8.5" wheels with +32mm offset, while Z51s had 16x9.5s with +38mm offset.

1993 base models had 17x8.5 fronts and 17x9.5 rears, both with +50mm offset. Z07s had 17x9.5s on all 4 corners, same +50mm offset.

So my math tells me that 12mm thick spacer will give the proper off set for the 93 wheels. Should I go with a bolt through with longer studs, or should I go with bolt on spacers?

The 12mm spacer (1/2") matches the offset difference between the 9.5" '87 wheels and the '93 wheels.

However, the 8.5" '87 wheels could use a little more (about 3/4").

I prefer the adapters to just spacers. In practice you will need to check how far the studs stick through the adapter to make sure the studs don't contact the wheels.

You also have some flexibility in spacer/adapter size. I have seen the later wheels used on the earlier cars without a spacer/adapter. I have also used 1 1/4" adpaters with the staggered set of '93 wheels.

In my case, I had some 1 1/4" adapters from another project and used them on my '85 with '93 wheels. They fit fine, however, I had the 8.5" fronts and I think if I had the 9.5" fronts it would have been too wide an adapter.

My '85 with '93 (actually '94) wheels with 1 1/4" adapters on all four wheels.

I didn't look at the specs listed above, but WVZR-1 is correct in the offsets.
I am listing some of the Corvette wheels below with the offsets for your reference.

84-87
16"x 8.5"- 32mm
16"x 9.5"- 38mm

88-96 base
16"x 8.5"- 50mm
17"x 8.5"- 56mm
17"x 9.5"- 56mm

Camaro SS (Same as '95 pace car '96 Collector Edition, or ZR1 except 9.0" ) 5 spokes
17"x 9.0" - 50mm

ZR1 rear
17"x 11"- 36mm

Grand Sport rear
17"x 11"- 50mm

C5 base
17"x 8.5"- 56mm
18"x 9.5"- 65mm

C5 Z06
17"x 9.5"- 54mm
18"x 10.5"- 58mm

C6 base
18"x 8.5"- 56mm
19"x 10"- 79mm

C6 Z06
18"x 9.5"- 40mm
19"x 12"- 59mm

Good luck.

Your specifications aren't correct for the '93 so the OP cant use your information at all!!!!

'93 wheels both 8.5 & 9.5 are @56mm

You can't use his information BUT you can rely on anything @QCVette mentions regarding spacers/adapters for a C4. He at one time or another has mixed/mounted nearly all of them!

Default Throw a monkey wrench in things

Hi guys In digging through the parts I have up in the attic. I found a set of bolt on spacers they are one inch thick I think they will work on the rears ok. Has anyone tried to use ones that thick on the front?.
