My airconditionning system doesn't work although I refilled it recently...
I still can heat it up but I can't have cool air...
What can be the problem ?
Thanks :chevy
You can generally tell if the compressor is cycling - the engine speed will change slightly and you can look at the front of the compressor - if part is stationary, the compressor is not running. When the refrigerant is low, the system will shut of the compressor and it will not start again when you add refrigerant. On my year, '90 and some other years, you reset the system by removing the courtesy light and radio fuses for 15 seconds or more. The compressor should then run.

Re: Air conditionning (Dudule)
I had the same problem a while back. It seems that even if the system is full it can somehow still set an error code for low freon. Once that happens the compressor will not engauge. If you pull the fuse or disconect the battery it will reset the system and you'll be good to go.
Thanks for those info guys, but what about the condenser....I've been told that the condenser could fail too...How can I tell if the condenser is involved in the airconditionning malfunction?
only 2 things can happen to the condensor, it can leak - noted by a oily stain, or it can be dirty- clean it with soap and a soft stream of water, do not bend the fins. also if you recharged the system your self are you sure you have the proper amount of freon and if the system was flat empty or opened did you pull a vacuum first.
last year when i still had my 84 spent agrand to redo and update the whole system. Then i sold the car. Took a bath on that repair. Now i have a vert and while my AC works great if it goes it will stay broke as thats why the top goes down:)
