No spark
The car is an 89, has 45k and 3000 miles since new fuel pump, filter, injectors, and all basic maintenance, air/oil. I am leaning on the hei module, since prior vehicles would has the same symptom before going bad. It also has key fob security locks, which don't actually work to unlock the doors, and the mini toggle switch under column on plastic cover, but I'm wondering if this security system has the ability to disable the hot wire to the distributor?
I saw a cheapo kit at top fight for 22 bucks, that's cap, rotor, coil, module!!! No thank you. I want a quality hei module, but should I get the cheapo kit just to narrow it down? Then buy a quality module if that's the issue?
Also looking to remove all security system and VATS too in the future.

Let it run in my driveway until it died, then dug into distributor cap and checked out the pickup coil. Should be around 800 ohms, but had no continuity when testing. Put a fan on it and came back 30 minutes later, now it tests at 800 ohms.
Put a hairdryer on the pickup coil, went dead in 10 seconds. Found the problem, but now having a problem after replacing pickup coil. Something is not happy and motor only runs good with est wire unplugged.
it’s now on the back burner since I just took the insurance off her.
Look into the pickup coil when you’re in there. 🍺
