Default Brake Booster Options

During my last Autocross I lost my Brake Booster and found out what driving a C4 at speed with manual Brakes is all about. Now that I have removed it and its got a giant crack in it right where the heat from the Header got to it. So, I'm planning on a Metal replacement for my Plastic 1990. However the Metal ones look to be the cheapest ones, they range from $90 to $190 in the world we live today are they all coming out of the same foreign factory? Is there any one in particular that shows better quality? Since this is not the fun nest job to do I will gladly pay more if it means I won't have to do it again any time soon.

A lot of the cheaper brass finish ones are stamped in chinese factories, but those are mostly for older cars
Recently there has been a big push toward ones with a black finish, but still the same stamped chinese boosters.
If you were using your C4 as a mostly parked princess I would say go for it, but with autocross I would probably shell out the extra for a higher quality booster.

If you did want to go cheap, get one that has been rebranded by a major parts distributor. Jegs, Summit, Speedway, etc. They're considerably more picky about which parts they put their names on.

I had a brass replacement from MAD or Ecklers or whatever on my 86, and it was great boost compared to the plastic I had before and the plastic I still have on my 88.

Several years ago, I purchased one of the metal ones, and I think it was for a 84? I believe I got it from Amazon.... Anyways, its been on my 93 and so far no problems..... But not many miles....
FWIW I believe headers kill the plastic ones. They are close.

My 84 came with a metal booster from the factory. It started leaking pretty badly. So I replaced it and the master cylinder. I got a new master cylinder but I pulled a plastic booster that was almost new off of an 86 or an 87 from the wreaking yard. I was afraid of the heat from the headers cooking it so I wrapped the booster in header wrap. So far so good.

I used this $67 one in my '90. No issues so far:
Amazon Amazon
They are all Chinese at this point.
