ETA: Sure that is the problem so I called the Corvette mechanic "Hunt and Knight". Unfortunately the business was sold and they only work on 2002 and later vehicles. So I called my regular mechanic and though I knew he was well qualified he informed me he had worked for "Hunt and Knight". Just dropped it off and will give an update.
Having a bad vibration as you may have read in my other thread about what is making this noise. The AIR pump I replaced wasn't the problem. Took a look at the balancer and noticed the timing mark would not be visible. So I looked at my other 85 and took a picture of each. I am 99.9% certain I have a bad balancer. What are your thoughts? Here are a couple of pictures.
Other 85 that appears ok.
One I'm having the problem with.
You can see how far forward the timing tab appears to be compared to the 1st picture.
Truthfully I don't think either is Healthy, if memory serves the timing scale rides more center and the ring is flush with hub. Put a timing light on it usually when they fail they twist and line is off scale. When testing make sure to disconnect the EST wire like your checking the timing.

Since it's the same balancer here's a picture of my 81s
