Default Speed Density ECM

SUps ya'll. I was wondering if anyone has done a SD conversion to their TPI MAF. I Have an ECM from a 91 F body laying around (which was TPI SD). Is it worth hacking the wiring up and the hassle of converting it ??? i know i need to alter the ECS module wiring and MAF wiring..and a new knock sensor and run wires for the MAP. Anyone have any tech or ideas??? I'm running low 13's...and i just got full length HEDMAN headers and i'm gonna do 2.5" (next week's project) mandrel duals instead of my dual 2.25" pinch bend.
thanks.

Instead of hacking the wires why not invest into a new engine harness for a year that supports the MAP? Call vettemaster in VA they have every possible harness you could ask for and usually for a great price. How great you ask.....? Put it this way, I installed all the ltwps and fx3 components from them for under 1G. Save your self the time and agrivation and go that route. Ask for Tom or Rick and tell them Chris from RI sent you he'll know who I am. Good luck

Kitt,

it would be easier to repin then try and get a harness to work.. the 90 vette harness would be the best replacement, but there would be a lot of work to get it merged to the 89 wiring..

TRUST ME, I know from experience

I would normally argue this point but I'll go with experience instead. If you've done it then and it makes sense then I would go with your opinion and scrap my suggestion. I believe the shortest distance between two points is best........

With so few mods, why go through the hassle? You're not close to the limit of what the ECM will support.

I did it. Its not hard and can be done in a long day if you have all your information first. You need a 1227730 ECM with the three connectors and a knock sensor from a 90 Vette. Anyway, unless your planning to invest about $500.00 in software and equipment and learn how to burn proms, I would not even try it. The MAF is more forgiving and you will not gain anything with what you have. On bigger engives with bigger cams etc, the SD will give you more control on tuning. You will also need a 7730 V8 chip, MAP sensor and will have to splice and cut some wires.
