Start-up after replacing head ggaskets
I replaced my head gaskets. I ended up with a fuel pump problem. Anyway, I got the car started and the car was smoking terribly, and it did not spell like oil or gas, or electrical. It smelled like residue from cleaning the heads and engine cylinders. A lot of smoke.
Also, the engine will not idle. If I floor the throttle, it will run for about 15 seconds than shut down/off.
Can someone help me get my engine back to it's norm running?
I purchased a new pump. I installed the new pump and got the same no pump prime outcome. I hotwired the pump to prime up to the fuel rail. The car started and a lot of smoke came out of the tail pipes, sort of like a diesel engine. no gas sent, no burning oil scent, or water smoke. Smelled like diesel (I used diesel to clean the cylinders when the heads were off)
The engine will start with a primed fuel rail, and run for about 20 seconds then die. The engine will not idle. I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor. The engine runs smoothly, no valve noise, but the engine will not idle, smokes badly from the tail pipes, and engine will die after about 20 seconds.
Is there a knowledgeable member in Houston who can come by and lend a hand?
