Steering Rack Question
Going through my spare racks; I have two, both with PN 26008290. I was going to send them to turn one for rebuilds for the race car.
I originally went on rock auto for new inner tie rods; I like to use Moog whenever possible. When looking up for a '91 rack, moog tie rods weren't available. Oh well, ordered another one. I happened to be ordering something from RA the next week, checked again and moog was available. . . sweet; ordered.
I started pulling the racks apart and this is when I noticed; even though they both are the same part number, on one, the tie rods use a female thread and on the other, use a male thread. . . even though the racks are the exact same part number.
Is there any other difference to the racks? I went back on RA and found that ~'89 -'92, the rack ends are male, and in '93-'96 the rack ends are female. Racks themselves are the same length. Anyone have any more insight?
