Cam question
I know a popular cam is the LPE 219 which is 219/219.
My cam is a lot milder, but is 222/226 durations.
Is the main difference that they have different durations (split/same) because the LPE is a roller cam?
My understanding (although very limited :D ) is that with a duration of:
219 is for more torque (RPM ranges of 2000-5000)
230 is for more HP (RPM ranges of 2500-6000)
The reasons I'm asking is because I'm helping a friend build his Mustang motor and I don't know whether to go with a split duration cam or not, and is my understanding of durations anywhere close? Cuz he'll want to spin his to like 6500-7000 RPM, so should I pick a split duration of like 230/244 with a .525 lift or so?
Thanks

Take trip down to you bookstore or library. There is an article avery few months that talks about cams.
Short answer, match the cam to the application and the heads.
Basics: More durations,... power is made at the top end. Less duration, power is made at the low end. Split profile,... how well does the intake breath versus the exhaust.
You don't wanna learn what you are doing,... call cam Mfg. They will ask you 20 Q's, then give you a part #. (They do this all day long.)
First mistake most beginner engine builders make,... over cam and engine (too big).

By the way, the cam you quoted is NOT a 7000 rpm cam, by a long shot.
