Ive noticed recently that when I start it and even when its warmed up I have some exhaust smoke, and today noticed it was dripping water from the exhaust. the temp around here has been around the 30-40 degree mark, and guess I should have some, but when I rev it up some in nuetral it comes out in huge amounts(white smoke). What kinda prob do I have? When I bought it I was told it sat up for 2-3 months but heck ive had it for a week now and atleast started it everyday, and its still doing it
Any help would be appreciated
Well it could be a couple of things but if you say you are getting water from the tailpipes it could be a head gasket, and if it is blowing water after it is warm something is not correct, could be a crack or head gasket. If you are loosing water and blowing white smoke chances are you lost a head gasket. Any info on the milage of the engine might be helpful.Good luck, and if I can help let me Know. also if the valve seats are worn you will get white smoke.
Mileage just turned 70,000 , the water I just noticed today and it quit after it warmed up but the smoke continued
Guess we taking big bucks about a head gasket change ?
Hmmmm inspected the coolant and its where it needs to be, but it started smoking again AFTER it warmed up, and dripping water, and I know thats a bad sign.
I dont know much about engines. the passenger side pipes are blowing it more then the right, another not so good sign. well i guess its off to the shop soon.
Thx all
what does the exhaust smell like? if it is kind of a sweet smelling exhaust, then it is most likely the headgasket.. It is also very likely that it is the Intake gasket.. Ours had to have one of those put on, and it was doing almost the same things as yours, except for the water.

Re: Slight smoke????? (Mark1376)
Hmm. $1200 including Corvette tax? Just a guess. :banghead:
I think windows are cheaper. You can unbolt one head from the car yourself, and throw it through the previous owner's window. Then buy the filthy bastard a new one.
I'm going to have to go with everyone else on this it sounds like a head gasket. The only way to tell for sure what it is is to do a leak down test. I had leaky valve seals and ran a compression test and everything came out fine. If you have a competant mech. do a leak down test he should be able to tell where it is leaking.
If I remember right (been a few years) when my valve seals went it wasn't a white cloud but more of a blueish/grey color and would only do it on startup or under heavy throttle.
The only other possibility is you are running rich (bad O2, leaky injector, ect.) but the smoke would smell like gas and the insides of the tailpipes would be real souty looking and your spark plugs would look black and saturated. But that still would not explain your water dripping.
