Throttle Hanging Open
My engine idles fine and gets going fine, but when I let off the gas the engine continues to run at around 2500-2900 rpms. It feels like cruise control, but I don't want it on :mad . I have to tap the gas everytime to get it to return. I parked it in the garage, opened the hood and throttled up by directly pushing on the throttle body. When I let pressure off of the TB, the throttle almost goes all the way back to the idle position, but it stops about 1/2 inch short of the stop screw. It's almost as if the spring isn't strong enough. I can't see any direct adjustment I can make, so How can I adjust the return spring to get the throttle to return to idle position?

mine did that too. i was gonna say does that, but lately i haven't had that problem. what might have cured it was a thorough cleaning i did a while back. for some reason i had the plenum and runners off, so i had my friend bead blast everything. unfortunately, some of the media had gotten into the throttle mechanism, so i spent a long time with throttle boddy cleaner scrubbing the throttle body.
it's hard to remember, but i think it still stuck a bit (where i had to tap the throttle to close it) after that, but it hasn't done that in a while.

If the car is a high milage car, your TB shaft bushings are likely worn out. If it's not high mileage, it's more likely the TB just needs a good cleaning. If your bushings are worn out and you don't want to buy a new TB, contact David Koldos about his TB modification which installs needle bearings in place of the TB shaft bushings.
