Looking to remove my original build sheet on my 95 base coupe. It’s in tact behind the right tank strap on my gas tank.
Can I just loosen the strap and pull it out from the taillight lense?
Why the fascination of removing the Build Sheet? The SPID label pretty much supplies you sufficient information for anything you need. Use that as a selling point when you decide to sell.
Owned the car for 26 years. Not selling. Already ordered the reproduction from the museum . I’m a Corvette nerd and want the sheet before it deteriorates .

Only the passenger-side tank strap. Clean (wire brush) and lubricate the bolt threads on the strap, as they'll likely be encrusted in decades of road crud. If you don't do this, you run the risk of twisting the strap into a pretzel as you remove the nut.
With both passenger-side taillight housings out you've got great physical and visual access to the tank strap and your build sheet. Follow the tips listed in my link above and recovering your build sheet is an easy, satisfying job.
As noted in my link, be as careful and gentle as you can removing the four bolts that secure the backside of the two taillight housings, as the plastic bolt bosses will likely be brittle with age.
The one on my 84 wasn't even for the right car FYI.
Same here^^^^^!!!! I'd have to dig it out, but it was for the VIN right before or right after mine....interestingly it shared many of the same traits, color, interior color and was destined for Puerto Rico....mine was on it's way to Vancouver, B.C.! A little side note, mine is a fairly early (March of '83) production '84 and I can testify by it's 38K original miles and condition that there was never a second build sheet in the K-member/Engine Cradle....I know they were put there, but I'm not sure when they started that practice👍

that's how mine was. I believe the last digit was one lower. But it could not have been more different a vehicle than mine. Mines a black, non z51, graphite interior, 4speed car and this was a two tone all bronze, Z51, auto car going to the midwest instead of NJ. I have no desire to confirm if there is one in the K member. My SPID label was missing and I just wanted answers.

Is your '84 an earlier production? If so, there was no SPID label, only a metal tag riveted to the side of the RH hood pin latch housing...this had some VIN info, paint codes and interior codes and that's about it. It's easy to miss because it's also black in color and blends right in. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure I've seen these on cars all the way up to the first 10K cars made....give or take. And if you don't have the metal tag, then yeah, some genius removed the SPID for you....Luckily mine came with a reproduction window sticker showing the options (or lack there of)....I still need to order a reproduction build sheet! Sorry if you already knew all of this, I just really like finding out and discussing all things unique to the '84 model year👍
