Well got my intake in. And installed, waiting on carb and dizzy to get here, figure I'd start a progress thread if anyone was interested. Also got my wifes 4l60 tore down and parts ordered to rebuild. also. On
I'm curious why change from the fuel injection to a carb?
What intake did you use? Is it a standard SBC intake, or something modified/special?
had a CCM problem and lot of wire issues with the fuel injection system. Plus ecms were problems in this year.
it's a gm intake meant for carb swap a lt1. Has no coolant running through intake as the thermostat sits on top of waterpump. Here is ebay link I used it came from summit https://www.ebay.com/itm/39417859665...mis&media=COPY
i wonder if that intake manifold design will be better vs. lt1 intake (more TQ) up to a 6500 rpm range
running a holly external pump, a fuel pressure regulator.
hei distributor with melonized gear.
Holley 600 or 650 haven't decided yet.
Making my own dash cluster with aftermarket gauges..
Ill keep posting pics as parts come in and installed

You may be the guy to answer some questions I have...
I started a thread about an engine swap mostly to eliminate the ecm....
I don't trust the electricle distributor any more than I trust the ECM.... it would be nice to be able to wash my engine....
Been a little while since update, been busy at work not much time to work on my own, but have got my holley carb and got it apart waiting on trick kit to show up.
got my distributor in and its a tight fit lol. Wires and fuel pump are in the mail. Soon should be up and running.
yep definitely putting plugs in exhaust the 600 holley is good for me right now,got a great deal on it. i plan on doing upgrades later after some suspension work and a paint job, and then ill put a bigger carb on it.
got alot on my plate car fixing wise with my wifes needing work too so going as cheap as I can right now without using junk parts

Besides the pump, what else do you need to get running?
What are you doing with the Opti?
Is the carb/filter going to fit under the stock hood?
EDIT: Why is the throttle body still hanging in there? Come on, man...erase all evidence this thing was ever FI.
6 spd manual, just waitng on fuel pump to come in.. using a intank pump from a chevy vega,
waiting on throttle cable aswell.
carb and filter will fit under hood. opti wil be blocked off with a block off plate.
Throttle body is only there because of coolant lines that go through it. Im not ready to drain coolant just yet until i get fitting to connect those those 2 lines going through throttle body. It'll be gone when I get it ready to drive.

On my L98, I used a Carter Crossfire Injection fuel pump that puts out 12 psi. A regular regulator will knock that down to wherever you want it. The fuel pump was a measly $30 off fleaBay brand new.
I had similar reasons to convert to carb on my car as the OP did: Crappy condition of the wiring mainly.
