Unhooked smog pump- car backfires...
Well I unhooked the little solenoid right before the smog pump that has 2 smog lines and some vacuum lines running to it...it is on the passenger side... Well I unhooked the hoses in order to fit my solenoids for nitrous...Well I then went racing and at around 5000 the car would backfire and it would come up through the hood...Well I hooked the smog back up and now it hasnt done it since....My thought is that it was pumping cold air into the headers causing a nitrous backfire that shot back through...does this sound correct?????????? :confused:

Did you plug all of the openings shut when you disconnected it?

You simply unplugged the vacuum lines, you did not plug all the lines after you pulled them?
Did you air box blow up or anything?
What came up the hood? fire?

No no no. Did not spray it. I have recently hooked the egr back up and have since sprayed it, but I am not getting much improvement from nitrous. Scorp, I am not going to spray it again until this weekend because I just found 2 vacuum leaks.
The backfire was on the motor and out the exhaust, not intake, the reason I saw smoke under the hood is because I think it came back up through the smog pump where I had it unhooked..
