When i purchased my '94 last September, the window and hatch seals had cracking/separating beginning to happen in a somewhat limited and at the same time in a concering fashion. As good as the seals still were, it just didn't seem entirely necessary to go all out and replace the degrading seals. As you guys have been with your C4's so much longer than I, this repair may be familiar to you. The worst area was the rear hatch, LH corner behind the driver side halo, the seal looked like it had literally separated leaving more than a 1".chasm which is poorly seen in the one pic. The seals in front of driver and passenger halo, were cracked anywhere from tiny to 3/8 inch. At the time, i didn't think to take any pics of these defects. The pics will show the repair using Permatex 81158 Black Adhesive Sealant Silicone RV.

as someone who has replaced several of those I say "if it works and you like it, then it is good". I replace mine for both visual and functional (it leaked) reason. A patch was not tried but only because a OEM look was what I wanted. Yours was a quick solution to a problem and it looks like it works.
Quite a bit of what you're seeing, e.g., "lines" or "streaks" were already there, part of the rubber seal. I am interested in how the adhesive holds to the seal over time. I didn't and still don't have a lot of expectations, the main reason i used the adhesive sealant is because the car had other issues needing addressed to be ready for the 2025 driving season. As I mentioned in the title of this thread, "Delaying the inevitable... and, although my LT1 is super clean, it's still a driver, so keeping it perfect gives me space for a sigh of relief🤗
Yeah, i suspect the same outcome. It adheres really well and my shop is temperature controlled. Fwiw, in my younger days, things like this used to REALLY matter and now at my current age, don't matter like they used to. What a relief, as I have more satisfaction getting more things accomplished and doing other more enjoyable things.

I bought my first C4, an 88 coupe, the spring of 1989. It was the first really nice car I ever had, so I was always worried something was going to happen to it. At malls or shopping centers, I would park far enough out that taking a cab to the shop entrances wouldn't have been a bad idea. If I couldn't park in the middle of nowhere, I would look to get next to cars that were equal or greater in value, figuring they would be more careful and less inclined to open their doors into mine. On dinner dates, I would see the girl's mouth moving but heard nothing, being too busy thinking about the car being damaged by some careless driver.
Finally, the inevitable happened, the driver's side door sustained a small scratch from either a shopping cart or another car's door and I was freed! After that, parallel parking was like playing bumper cars, another time I had a painter five in one tool in my back pocket and put a nice cut in the seat leather and it was "Oh well..."
