GM service manual on CD?
Anyone use anything like this? Can you advise if this is a decent investment?

This looks similar to the one I bought off ebay. Bootleg copy of a mitchell diagnostics. Other than the wiring diags & component locator, it's worthless. EBAY e-mailed me and they withdrew the auction because of copyright problems. The seller had several "copies" and I received mine before they pulled the plug. Mine include the dates show that is why I suspect the software is the same.
I invested in the GM manual (found it on this forum). I like it much better.

How about this one? Is this the service manaul that you were referring to? Im looking for something better than the Haynes or Chilton that are in the auto parts stores.

That is the preliminary manual. Read the front "to be replaced by .... " The GM manual is a two volume set. Expect to pay 45 to 65 plus shipping. Keep looking on ebay. They are there all the time. Also check this forum "FOR SALE" section. That is where I bought mine.

I got my father the GM service CD set (4 or 5 cds) on Ebay. He think's it's the best thing since sliced bread. I think it's worthless. The search function sucks. You've got to access everything through fault codes. It's completely worthless for OBDI cars. The only benefit I found was that it lists all of the technical service bulletins for all GM cars.

I had a Helms (the publisher of service manuals) for '99 Camaros on CD. The interface was so horrible, I couldn't stand to use it. Stick with the books IMHO :D
