So 1985 Z51 with the 9.5" wide wheels. Trying to find 255 / 50 / 16 tires is proving about impossible unless track tires are what you're looking for-
question 1- any good tire advice?
question 2 - what wheel/ tire combo fits well, and looks right ? Need 38mm offset to fit correct, and I don't want the ZR1 "look" 5 spoke.
thank you for comments!
Thank you, the bf goodrich tires are no longer available in the U.S. in that size, and the Michelin's look like a great option, although @ $500 (U.S. funds) per tire, they're 1/3rd the value of the car! Anyone ever track day that tire?
My bf goodrich sport comp 2's have been great, but getting too old to trust!
I have an 84 Z51 and have been running these 245/16 TOYO TIRES for about 9 months. No issues whatsoever and they ride and handle well. If you use the size comparison chart they are only .4 inches shorter. I seriously doubt you can tell the difference by sight.
Thank you, I think your 84 would be on 8.5 wide wheels,(?) the 85z51 came with 9.5 wheels and have seen the 245's on them, look a little "stretched", may have to go that route-

My rears are 9.5. They fit fine and are not bulged at all.
245 tires fit fine. You'll probably get someone parachuting in here to tell you the manufacturers say not to do it so you shouldn't, but I and many others have put them on without any problems.
Thank you re the triple8 R's, unfortunately the amount of rain in the Seattle area keeps me from wanting to run those, but- as a track day tire, it might be what I end up doing, !
APEX makes an 18x10 ET30 wheel for the front of the wide body c6 that fits the early C4 all around, I think it only comes in SM10 wheel maybe a few others, and it’s a new size for them. If’s a flow formed version that’s cheaper than some of the tires cost, comes on sale occasionally.
