Default 93 LT1 Expected Average Gas Mileage.

I bought my 93 in Janurary and have been averaging 20 to 21 mpg around town. My buddies who own C4's with LT1's say they would expect high 20's to almost 30 mpg. This sounds very high for a V8 around town. I am burning premium and the car has 100,000+ miles. I changed the plug wires and checked the plugs (looked good) and the car is running great. Should it get better mileage and should I do something to improve.

I average about 18 mpg around town in my 93 6spd w/ 3.54 rear. I think it all depends on how much you have your foot in it. Mine is not a daily driver so, I don't really care much about the, gas mileage.

I average 26 highway, 20 mixed 50/50 city highway driving. Depends on how you drive. This is with 82K, an M6, heavy sub box, on a vert and using the gas liberally. ;)

For just around town, that sounds pretty good. Mine (91 auto) gets 15 - 18 (avg) in town and 25 - 28 (avg) highway. You may want to take it on a short trip, 30 miles or so, to better gauge your highway mpg.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm feeling much better about what I am seeing. I will continue to watch and see if the new plug wires have made a difference. :steering:

Man, I have a lead foot around town. I get an average of 19 mpg with 50/50 driving, but I get around 31 on the highway and even saw 34 once! This is with the mods you see below. Sixth gear is great!

More info...
Stock 93 auto
I regularly get 22 mpg in the Tampa area. When I feel the need for speed or when I'm stuck in traffic for several days, ten I get aroung 19 to 20 mpg. Highway mileage at a consistent 85 to 90 mph gets me about 28 mpg.

Welcome to the forum and congradulations on the new Vette.

My 92 LT1 overall is 21 MPH, 1-18 in local (depends how big the right foot is that particular day) and 20-35 cruise. 80 MPH with the cruise control set on the interstate is 24-28 depending on the wind and weather, 30-45 MPH cruise is about 30-35 MPH.

Enjoy the Vette and see you around the forum...the best place for info.

Your mileage will drop the longer you have the car :D . You'll find yourself exiting corners just a bit faster, braking later, blowing off a Mustang or two (just because they deserve it).

My wife is down to about 15mpg city 18mpg highway. Now she hunts for Vipers in the distance  .

My 94 six speed convertible with 3:45 rear end, driven daily to work(8 miles each way) only averages 15 mpg. I'd be real happy with 20+ :yesnod:
