Default Edelbrock 60789

Hello fellow corvette enthusiasts my car is purchased had these edelbrock heads on it when I bought it 90 auto. I'm confused the heads say hydraulic flat tappet..... the cars were produced with hydraulic roller cams. If my car has these heads would it be safe to assume the previous owner put in a flat tappet camshaft ? Im very confused ??
thanks in advance

Think you mean 60879 as those heads are designed for late 1986–1991 Corvettes and will work fine with the stock hydraulic roller lifters. I have them on my 1988.

As oyvet mentioned, the Edelbrock 60879 heads are meant for the L98 Vette engine. The "hydraulic flat tappet" in the description on those heads just "generically" refers to the valve spring pressure rating when used with an aftermarket street performance cam. A performance roller cam requires more spring pressure than a performance flat tappet cam at high rpm to avoid valve float. An aftermarket performance roller cam that is designed to rev out to 6000rpm would require more spring pressure than what is installed on those heads. With that said, the springs in those heads will perform fine with the mild stock L98 roller cam, which has relatively low lift and makes peak power below 5000rpm.

I would call Edelbrock and tell them what you want to do and give them the specs for that LPE219 cam. They will advise you as to whether the springs in those heads are ok or need to be upgraded.
