I've had long crank time when starting my 89 L98. After pulling the fuel pump fuse, the car would not start at all. I'm apparently losing pressure while the car sits. No evidence of a fuel leak. Any ideas what could be relieving the fuel pressure while sitting?
It is normal for the fuel system to bleed pressure over time.
When you turn the key On you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds and the fuel rail should charge. If not check the FP Fuse and the FP relay. This fuse and relay are used to charge the rail before starting; thereafter power is supplied to the FP through the Oil Pressure Sw.
If the system is leaking down too fast after the prime, clamp the feed and return lines near the tank to see if the pump is leaking back or at the fuel pressure regulator. If it doesn't hold prime with both lines clamped, service the injectors.
