I got the dash apart and was getting reading to install the new switch. Then I realized two things.
1. The adjustment was off again.
2. The switch I had wasn't the brake control switch after all it was the Cruise Control switch. :mad :mad :mad
I then adjusted the switch per the repair manuel. Now they go on and go off normally EXCEPT........
The passengers side lights don't come on when you depress the brake! :mad :mad :mad
The drivers side lights work and the 3rd brake light comes on but for some reason the passengers side isn't working now. I've check and there doesn't see to be a fuse out and they still work when the lights are on or the hazards are still on so they are still connected.
Please, if anyone can help, I'm working on it now.
The lower brake lights get power from the brake switch which then goes through the turn and hazard switch to the stoplight lamps. Check the lamp, it may have burned out. If its ok, then you need to trace backwards through the wiring. You may have a defective turn signal switch or a defective hazard switch.

Okay. Someone relayed part of your message. My hazards work. I haven't checked the turn switch though. Heading back down and praying that's what it is right now.
Okay. Many thanks to jfb. Apparently it has "something" to do with the turn signal switch. I had the battery disconnected while I was working on it and when I hooked it back up is when the passengers side stopped working when you hit the brake. Since he mention the power went through both the hazard (which worked) and the turn signal (which I hadn't check) I decided to see if both turn signals worked. What I found was that I had apparently knocked the turn signal switch to the right turn side when I got out from under the dash. I guess it did something to the circuit since it had no power. Once I shut them off and turned them back on everything (at least that side) started working properly. Hopefully if I put it all back together and properly adjust everything I won't have any more trouble with it. I did take the brake switch apart while I had it out and it's a very simple mechanism. Not much to go wrong unless something broke inside (which hadn't), contacts get dirty (which I cleaned anyway), or the spring fails (which it hadn't)
