88 horn replacement question
I began dismantling the dash gauge "covers" (trim) where behind the center section resides the fuse(?) and horn relay.....
Checked all fuses there and all appear and check good....
At this point, I figure (hoping) that the horn relay is defective...I always had weak anemic horns and figure the contacts
in relay are setting up high resistance......Instead of testing the "feed" to all this, I would get the relay for reasons above....
Ordered relay today and will install, weather permitting, as it started raining 10 minutes after I completed putting tools away...
**ADDITIONAL -
I took the relay I removed and, l lightly tapped it on the top of my desk and something was rattling inside.......

THUMBS DOWN!
Installed new relay and still problem exits......found old relay marked "good" when I replaced it once and installed that - no change...
I looked in my notes since buying this car and saw 2 entries I made;
1)...I popped off horn button when I popped it off YEARS ago when I had the same problem. Found and fixed detached horn wire back then AND, another entry where I squeezed the flasher(?) item behind center panel and when I did that years ago, horn worked....Could have been bad connection but, replaced it anyway.
2)...So, been swapping things around here a bit and trying to beat the rain...Re-checked each and every fuse again, all good....
3)...May have to wait another day to see if I can find fuse able link wire somewhere behind battery.......May check if any voltage at plug behind relay and/or flasher unit
It works!...Maybe a bad connection inside of factory plug but, cleaned as much as I could access and IT WORKS!"....
Before I button-up the dash area, I am waiting for a new blower motor (HVAC) for inside air and heat.....
Due in possibly Saturday....
I already have blower relay....When I took blower motor out of service, the motor got hot and the connecting wires/plug got very hot.....
Attempted to lube motor but, that didn't work.....
After I put on new tires hopefully next week, will have to determine if my R12 refrigerant leaked out of a brand new evaporator coil...If I suspect that it did, will try a sealer (hate that idea) before I get another evaporator...Lat time it took me three days!...
